Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Halmob ("we," "our," or "us") handles information when you use Audio Companion: Hearing Tools ("App"). The App provides microphone-based live listening, optional speech transcription, local audio recording and transcript tools, and read-only headphone audio exposure information where supported.
By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Handle
1.1 Microphone Audio and Live Listening
With your permission, the App accesses the microphone to capture nearby sound and play processed audio through a connected audio output.
Live-listening audio is processed in real time on your device. It is not retained unless you choose to start a recording.
Halmob does not receive or store your live microphone audio on its servers.
1.2 Optional Speech Recognition and Transcription
If you enable transcription, the App uses Apple's speech-recognition technology to convert microphone audio into text.
Recognition may occur on your device when supported. Depending on your device, language, settings, and Apple service availability, Apple may process audio and related speech-recognition data on its servers.
Completed transcripts are stored locally on your device. Halmob does not operate a transcription server and does not receive your audio or transcripts.
1.3 Local Recordings, Transcripts, and Settings
Audio recordings you create, saved transcripts, recording dates, and related metadata are stored locally in the App's storage on your device.
Listening preferences, audio-processing settings, and other App preferences are also stored locally.
Recordings and transcripts leave the App only when you choose to export or share them, or when they are included in a device backup controlled by your iOS and iCloud settings.
1.4 Health Data
With your explicit permission, the App may read headphone audio exposure information from Apple HealthKit where that data and feature are available.
Access is read-only. The App does not add, change, or delete records in the Health app.
Health data is used only to display relevant information and insights to you within the App. It is not sent to Halmob or Adapty and is never used for advertising or marketing.
1.5 Subscription and Support Information
Subscription information: Adapty and Apple process an app user identifier, product identifiers, purchase history, and subscription or entitlement status to provide and restore paid access. Halmob does not receive your payment-card details.
Support communications: If you contact us, we receive the email address, message, and attachments you choose to provide.
1.6 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not require an account and do not collect your name, phone number, contacts, precise location, photos, or advertising identifier through the App.
We do not sell personal information or Health data.
We do not use recordings, transcripts, microphone audio, or Health data for advertising, user profiling, or data-mining purposes.
2. Device Permissions
Microphone: Required for live listening, audio recording, and optional speech transcription.
Speech Recognition: Required only when you choose to use transcription.
Health: Optional, read-only access to headphone audio exposure information where supported.
You can change these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Disabling a permission will prevent the related feature from working but will not affect unrelated features.
3. How We Use Information
Information is handled only as needed to:
Provide live listening, recording, transcription, and headphone audio exposure features.
Save your recordings, transcripts, preferences, and settings locally.
Process, verify, and restore subscriptions.
Respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations.
4. Data Storage, Security, and Retention
Local content: Recordings, transcripts, Health information displayed by the App, and preferences are stored or accessed on your device. Halmob does not maintain a server-side database or backup for this content.
Device protection: Local App data benefits from the security and file-protection features provided by iOS. You are responsible for protecting access to your device.
Backups: Apple may include local App data in your device or iCloud backup according to your Apple settings. These backups are controlled by Apple and you, not Halmob.
Deletion: You can delete individual recordings and transcripts using the App's controls. Uninstalling the App removes its local data from the device, although copies you exported and copies retained in device backups may remain.
Subscription data: Apple and Adapty retain purchase and entitlement information as needed to process purchases, restore access, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations under their respective policies.
Support data: We retain support communications only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain business records, and meet legal obligations.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Apple App Store / StoreKit: Processes payments and manages App Store transactions. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
Adapty: Manages subscription status, paywalls, and entitlements. Adapty receives an app user identifier and purchase or subscription information, but not your recordings, transcripts, microphone audio, or Health data. See Adapty's Privacy Policy.
6. Data Sharing and International Transfers
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. Limited information may be disclosed:
To Apple and Adapty as described above to provide speech recognition, Health access, purchases, and subscription entitlements.
When you choose to export or share a recording or transcript using iOS sharing features.
When required by law, legal process, or a valid request from a public authority.
In connection with a business transfer, subject to applicable law and appropriate notice.
Apple and Adapty may process limited service data in countries other than your own under their respective privacy practices and legal safeguards.
7. Apple App Store Subscriptions and In-App Purchases
If you purchase a subscription, payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase. Apple handles payment details and billing.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple may charge your account for renewal within 24 hours before that period ends. Prices and subscription periods are shown in the App before purchase.
You can manage or cancel a subscription in iOS Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and access to subscription features continues until then. If a free trial is offered, any unused portion may be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. When Apple asks us to support a refund request, Apple or Adapty may process transaction, subscription, trial, and limited feature-use information; recordings, transcripts, microphone audio, and Health data are not shared for this purpose.
8. Your Choices and Privacy Rights
Control Microphone, Speech Recognition, and Health permissions in iOS Settings.
Delete local recordings and transcripts in the App or delete all local App data by uninstalling the App.
Manage device and iCloud backups through your Apple settings.
Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings.
Request access to, correction of, or deletion of information Halmob holds about you, where applicable.
Object to or restrict processing and withdraw consent where those rights apply under laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or KVKK.
Because recordings, transcripts, and Health data are not held on Halmob servers, we generally cannot access, recover, or delete that local data for you. Contact us using the details below to exercise rights concerning information we do hold.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian should supervise use by a minor, including microphone, recording, transcription, Health, and subscription features. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
10. Non-Medical Purpose
The App is a general listening and accessibility utility. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, monitor, treat, cure, or prevent hearing loss or any medical condition. Headphone audio exposure information and transcripts are provided for general informational purposes and should not be treated as medical advice.
11. Terms of Use
Your use of the App is also governed by our Terms of Use, which forms part of your agreement with Halmob.
12. Links to Other Sites
The App may link to third-party websites or services that Halmob does not operate. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Review the privacy policy of any third-party service you use.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page, update the "Last Updated" date, and provide additional notice where required by law.
